[[VIDEOID:a0f8941cc431f6ae5d0e9d77a37684f0]] I've been working on a series of educational toys for children, specifically involving bees, chickens, and general nature themes.
This Chicken Farmer Barbie is an interesting career kit.
She's obviously a warm weather chicken farmer with sleeveless top and short-shorts that would get her sent to the Principal's Office in our Public School System, but it's summer, so no wardrobe rules.
I paid a lot for this Barbie Kit so I had some expectations that possibly her arms would bend at the elbow, wrist, or that her legs might be able to bend at the knees or ankles. They don't and her hands are not molded into a position for her to carry the basket, hold the egg carton, or cradle a hen.
She can stand on her own while wearing boots, but not in bear feet.
The hen house has a ramp that goes only to the bottom level, not the actual nesting area which has no roosts.
There are three hens with eggs and chicks, yet there is no rooster? You can have eggs without a rooster, but the chicks are evidence that there is some chicken reproduction going on?
She is a red-head with brown eyes and freckles yet she has no farm hat of any kind to protect her fair skin.
None of the hens have feet, so they are designed to simply sit, not forage with the chicks.
There is a feeding trough, but no drinker, though the blue level seems to be some sort of water trough.
This doesn't present a strong educational opportunity for young flock managers, but it's interesting and certain to be fun for kids... maybe a straw hat or baseball cap in the future?
Took one star away for lack of limb articulation and no rooster.
While the Barbie came as described in the listing, the packaging has a few very large, dirty handprints on it. Almost as if someone was eating lunch while they were packaging this item. It looks disgusting and I will have to clean it before I give it to my child as a gift. Totally unnecessary.
What we didn't like:
*We did a comparison - our doll vs the one pictured online and they're not exact. Plus our had a minor defect, a black spot on her chin (that won't come off)
*The doll isn't articulated - she's as stiff as can be, with arms and legs that can only raise and lower
*The hair is a bit choppy
*Boots are hard to remove
What we liked:
*With the Farmhouse fad going on its a fun, trendy set
*Would make a cute Easter gift with all the chicks/peeps
*Barbie quality you expect upheld
*Encourages careers, animal care, and creativity!
While we were slightly disappointed in the dolls obvious facial dissimilarity we'd still recommend.
Just when I thought the selection of Black Barbies couldn't get any better with the Ibtihaj Muhammad Barbie and Fashionista 91 (Varsity Plaiditude/representing Albinism!), they go and give us a wonderful Black Curvy Barbie with the most pretty face and most FABULOUS Kinky Afro you can imagine! Barbie Fashionista 105, is something I would have loved as a little Black girl in the 70's, but I am glad that this Beauty is now available for a whole new generation of little girls who will now see themselves represented in a beautiful and most positive light. I have begun to collect Black Barbies with Afros, and Fashionista 105 is a most welcome addition! Thank you Mattel!
I thought I loved this doll when I first saw and purchased it, however when I finally unpackaged her I was truly overwhelmed. Beautiful does not begin to describe this curvy Barbie. Oh my God her hair, I could take pictures of her all day. The only downside to this curvy wonder is that she’s not articulated. Seriously, Mattel you could increase the price of these dolls, if they were placed on ‘Made to Move’ bodies and people would pay the difference.
(If Mattel is by any chance paying attention, could you please consider making a chocolate made to move curve Barbie doll. Thank you ????)
Thank you for a quick arrival of this doll, I love this doll, I love the face, the hair, the cloths, her body, her shoes, her earrings, the hair is so thick and full, she is such a beautiful lady. One of my favorites so far..
Ok, so I couldn't find this barbie in Walmart, so I ordered it here on Amazon for 9.99. What I can't understand is why are y'all charging other people so much when I paid 9.99? Anyways after ordering this, I went to Walmart and they finally had it for 7.97 Barbie is absolutely stunning. My daughter loves her, but the seller got me tripping on their current price right now when Walmart selling it for 7.97. Other than that, I give it 5 stars because it arrived as pictured, and it made my daughter extremely happy for Christmas.
I really like the styling of this doll's look: her layered fringe earrings are funky & cool and her pop-art floral dress is fresh and summery. I'm also very pleased that this Barbie has a dark eye color.
She is adorable, I love her face and features with super long hair she's one of my new favorites! Oh and she is original size but seems smaller, has flat feet and her paint work is perfect! Definitely recommend her and she arrived super fast too.
A beautiful Curvy doll! A ton of black hair to pick. She has a beautiful face with light makeup and a nylon material pink and orange striped cut-outs at the hips dress. Reminds me of a famous AA Actress from the 60's and 70's.
The face of my doll looks different than the stock photos. Looks like the eyes on my doll are placed too high up. It really bugs me.
Had to have this beauty! I love her full/thick natural hair. It has a great length which makes it easy for styling. She is a curvy doll with a cute dress.
Beautiful doll! I love her pretty smile and silver hair. She's not like any of the other dolls I have. I rebodied her onto a Liv Doll Sophie body as her limbs do not bend.
She was so cute but I wish she care by herself with a baby but I gave her some brothers and a big sister and they were so cute❤️ And I loved the extra accessories ????
I bought this for my 5 year old for her birthday and she thought it was amazing! She hasn't stopped playing with it! The little animals are adorable and the set in general is cute!
I am very impressed by this doll. She is very well made and the poses you can do are endless. I have to agree with the previous commenter about the cons and the pros.
She can wear standard barbie clothing and wears both heels and flats since her feet and ankles are articulated. Just know that if you want to put on a really short skirt you can see the seams towards her upper thigh where her legs twist inward and outward.
The one thing that I am not too happy about are the elbows and arms...the sealing at the joints seem a bit rushed, but if you put on a long sleeved shirt, you can't even see it. I think the more these dolls are produced, the quality will become better. But the doll does feel durable for both a child and an adult collector who likes to frequently pose the doll for play or photos.
I highly recommend this doll.
I love all of the Made To Move dolls! I have all of the "yoga top" girls, and I love this one's face very much. She has a sweet, eager expression and of course, the Made to Move articulation is the best! Mattel outdid themselves with the posing of these dolls. I cannot get enough of them! Her outfit is even cute, and the leggings can be used for so many outfits! The only thing is that her ankle joints are a bit floppy, so sometimes she has trouble standing. This is true of all the Made To Move dolls.
It is a very nice doll, her body is great and very poseable. But i wish if only Mattel were making more effort to make these dolls better. I am comparing her to my old 2009 Raquelle Fashionista, you can see how her make up has so many small and nice detaling and her hair is much better and puffier than Made to move doll has.
Her skin has strange yellowish colour, like she likes to sunbathe alot. And i dont like her joined ankles, the are very flimzy, and not very good with heel shoes.
Also i wish there were more dolls with made to move bodies with different skin and hair, but 90% of them are lookalike sweet blondes with no personality =/.
To sum up - she worth the money but i feel like she could be much better if only Mattel take care a little more about the product and happy customers than about the profit.
I got a blue top this time to head-swap with Barbie Paleontologist. I really loved the pretty dimples of Blue Top Barbie. I hope to get another one soon. This one could even stand in flat shoes. Her ankles were just right. Some of the other Barbie Made to Move dolls had tricky little ankles with a mind all their own.
Also the peg inside their heads are slightly different, so the neck on one doll looks shorter now.
I just got Barbie Made to Move today. I read many reviews about Barbie Made to Move vs. Style Barbie. I just had to try her out. Most people who have the 2 dolls say Made to Move Barbie is a much better poser. This is very true.
I liked the rooted lashes and 2-toned hair on Style Barbie the best, so I can't say Style Barbie is a loser. Style also has the bending ankle and can wear both flats and heels. Made to move Barbie has choppy hair. I like it just the same, because my real hair is not all the same length. I thought it looked nice.
Made to Move Barbie can bend her knees all the way back and sit down on her knees. She can bend at the breast/ rib cage, but not at the waist. Style Barbie cannot do any of this.
Style Barbie can only bend her knees to sit down in a chair.
Made to Move Barbie can spread her legs out like in yoga or exercise class. Style Barbie can spread her legs very little in comparison.
Made to Move Barbie has much sturdier looking joints except in the ankles, they are almost the same. One thing I did notice was one of her ankles turns inward like she needs her electrolytes. I thought it was the shoes but I traded their shoes around and noticed the shoes were okay. I still like the natural looking poses for this doll. She is a much better choice for those who love doll dioramas and modelling clothes.
As soon as I got her out, I noticed one small dot on her foot and face both barely noticeable. To me personally, this is not a problem, but I thought I should mention it. The price was well worth it for this doll. The clothes are nice enough and stretchy so I can go ahead and pose her. I had a couple of pairs of Barbie shoes to try on her. She came barefooted. I was thrilled to find that her jointed ankle makes it possible for her to wear high heels and flat shoes made for Barbie. I have both branded and unbranded Barbie shoes that fit her. I was almost about to sell some of the shoes when I got her, but she is a keeper and loves shoes. The usual Barbie seams are kind of rough in places but that is okay, considering what I paid for her ($11.04). I consider this to be a really great buy.
This doll is amazing. According to my daughter, she is perfect for doing yoga, gymnastics, you name it. She can do the splits, although it is pretty hard for her to do the middle splits. Her elbow joints bend really well, as shown in the photos. Even though her clothing looks a little cheaply made and she can’t wear all Barbie shoes, she still deserves 5 stars. When my daughter opened the package, the doll’s hair was a little messy, but that’s okay, since it is easy to brush. Her hair is long enough for a bun, too. She can also do the lotus pose. Her toes can point. Her waist also bends. She can also stand on her hands. She can do many yoga poses, actually. My daughter said her makeup is done very well, too. She also has dimples. She is a favorite doll of my daughter. My daughter does acrobatics, so the doll is her “Acro Buddy”.
I was iffy about getting this doll. I haven't bought a barbie since I was a kid, and every time I'd see her in stores I'd get change my mind. Her packaging (to me) doesn't show her potential, and after being prompted by a friend I finally gave in and ordered her.
Boy, was I surprised. She arrived quickly and after getting her out of the box I moved to comb her hair. This is the only problem I've had with her since she's arrived: strands of her hair fell out as I was combing through it. A couple more loose strands came free when I was dressing her. It isn't a big problem so it's easy enough to get over, and honestly with how amazing she is I'll get over it.
I LOVE this doll. I was worried posing her would be hard but it's actually quiet easy. Her joints aren't stiff but aren't loose. I love the small details - the dimples on her cheeks, the happy smile on her face and the pretty shade her hair is. She's amazing. Perfect for a child or a collector like myself. I'd recommend buying her in a heartbeat!
Her eyes are VERY wide compared to the images on the internet, on other customer image reviews, and on the box. I'm going to need to wait until my Walmart has restocked this item to see if I can get a more accurate one... Unfortunately, if I can't find a more accurate one there, I'm going to have to stick with this one.
I liked it at first but it ripped in the back of her shirt.
To the left: the first version. To the right: latest version. I am really disappointed. At the very beginning I was very happy about the variety of skin tones. Now the made-to-move-dolls got almost the same skin color. Plus: The quality of the facial painting fades. Have a look... The doll to the right is not what I wanted. :-( I used to buy a lot. But picture and doll delivered are no longer of same outlook. Shame. I have stoped buying them now.
The outer package was almost totally separated from top to bottom. This was disappointing since the doll will be given as a gift and it seems now that it is already opened!
I wish this toy wasn’t as expensive as it is. In my opinion it feels kind of cheap and flimsy.
*In the photo it shows that even though the back is latched closed the top won’t close and is not aligned right.
Delivered in a box saying exactly what it was and ruined a Christmas present!!!
Purchased this for around $25 on Amazon. When it came in the mail I was pleasantly surprised on how much toy I got for the price. Smaller Barbie sets with less accessories sell for the low twenties, so I am very pleased with the toys value. We have yet to take it out of the box for Christmas, but the toy itself seems of good sturdy quality. More play doh will be needed!
The box came with the item written on the outside. Gift surprise was ruined. ???? It was on the porch when the kids and I came home from school.
My 6 year old daughter got this set for her birthday. She loves it. The Barbie dough feels just like play-doh. Our only complaint is that Barbie is flatfooted and can't wear all the high heel shoes we have.
